Rewards and recognition

The entire organization understands the value of recognizing the efforts of hard-working people in creating a positive work environment. As a service technician at Rush Enterprises, you have the opportunity to earn both cash rewards as well as company and peer recognition through our annual Technical Skills Rodeo. This prestigious event brings together the most skilled service technicians from our network to attend advanced training courses to hone their technical skills while competing in multiple categories for the opportunity to earn cash and prizes of more than $200,000. We have also created a variety of additional programs that acknowledge our employees skills, dedication and work ethic.

Ongoing training

We encourage training at the beginning and throughout your career as a service or body shop technician with Rush Enterprises. To maintain your skills, we offer onsite factory training, apprentice programs, self-study courses and ASE certification programs and offer a Tuition Reimbursement Program to qualifying candidates.

Tool assistance and tool certificate programs

Having quality tools in your toolbox is critical to your success. That’s why we offer a Tool Assistance Program that provides financial assistance toward the purchase of new tools.

Tool Insurance Plan

The Company offers tool insurance at no cost to its service and body shop technicians who take the time to register their tools as set forth below. This tool insurance can cover certain losses of tools and tool boxes (hereafter referred to as “tools”) owned by employees and used in the scope of Company business. The technician must pay a $250 deductible for any covered loss occurring on or off site. Payment is made on replacement cost value to replace tools at the time of loss. Replacement cost will be obtained from a certified tool distributor selected by the Company.

Company-Paid Uniforms and Cleaning

Uniforms are provided at no cost to technicians. Uniforms will be picked up, cleaned and returned to the location at no cost to the technician.

Annual Work Boot Program

Service, Body Shop and Parts Warehouse employees will be provided a voucher worth $100 every 12 months toward the cost of safety boots. Boots must be purchased from the company’s designated boot supplier. Employees who purchase boots that cost more than the $100 from the designated supplier will be responsible for any cost above that amount.

Free Prescription Safety Glasses

The Company will provide each employee with OSHA approved safety glasses. Any employee requiring prescription safety glasses must provide his/her supervisor with a valid prescription and the employee will then be given a voucher to take to the Company’s designated safety glasses supplier. Only one pair of prescription safety glasses will be provided under the Company’s voucher system in a 12-month period unless damage beyond repair occurs while the prescription safety glasses are being used at work.

Technician mentoring programs

To maintain adequate staffing levels of qualified service technicians and to improve the skill sets of entry level employees, Rush Enterprises has developed the Service Technician Mentoring Program. Prospective service technicians go through an initial screening process to qualify for the program. Additional training is then provided to entry-level technicians from within the workplace environment by qualified service technician mentors raising the skill and experience level of the newly-hired technicians.
